It is now much easier to balance your checking account! If you were used to a delay between when you made a payment or money transfer and when the funds were taken from your checking account, that may now change.
As of September 15, 2017, ACH debits may be made on the same day that the transaction was initiated. ACH debits include electronic payments, automatic drafts, paper check conversions, or any electronic withdrawal from your account. For example, a check written at a retailer that is converted into an electronic payment (ACH Check) may clear the same day. Please take this rule into consideration when you have ACH debits deducted from your account.
How does this help me?
This change allows you to better keep track of how much money you have available in your account.
What do I need to do?
You don't need to do anything, but please make sure that funds are available in your account on the day you initiate a payment or transfer to prevent an overdraft or failed payment.
It is always a good idea to have overdraft protection set up to prevent payments or transfers from being declined due to insufficient funds.
Now is also a good time to setup eMessenger Alerts to monitor transactions and balances.

Please note that this change is mandatory per NACHA Rules, and IBMSECU has no control over when the ACH files are received. As of September 15, 2017, all financial institutions will have to process same-day ACH debits when the ACH file is received.
